Dear Parents, Carers, Students and Friends of the St Andrew’s College Community,
2018 is my seventh year as Principal of this great College, and yet it feels like yesterday I began my journey at the College. I strive to take the time, and I reflect upon on the voyage of St Andrew’s and appreciate how this College has developed into one of the best Colleges I have had the privilege of working in during my career.
In 2018 we reach our 17th year as a College, growing considerably from 2001 when the College opened with 92 students and a handful of enthusiastic and committed staff members. Some of those staff members are still at the College today and provide the essential ‘can do’ attitudes that drive the College forward.
I love the St Andrew’s atmosphere – I try to soak it up every single day because it is an excellent tonic. The students are respectful and proud of their College; they strive to do their very best at all times. The staff are true professionals and aim to make a positive difference in the life of each student they interact with. Our parents have high expectations for their children and want them to achieve their personal best in all they do. This is a great formula for our College – students, staff and parents all working together to achieve tangible outcomes for the students. All of what we do at St Andrew’s is embedded in a Catholic ethos where the love of God is central to our mission.
Being a member of St Andrew’s is so unique because students are being educated each day within a
St Andrew’s is a College built on the faith of the Catholic Church. We are very proud each day to name and claim the Gospel values that we educate our young people in. These are the hallmarks of ensuring our students leave the College as young men and women ready to take their place in our ever-changing and complex society. We are fortunate to have Father Neil Muir as our Parish Priest and as the Vicar for Education in the Diocese. Father Neil is passionate about St Andrew’s, and his support, encouragement and wisdom have been invaluable to the College and me.
The years ahead look very bright for the College. There is lots of interest in St Andrew’s as indicated in our high enrolments. We have an excellent campus – great classrooms, facilities and a beautiful setting in the valley. We have a highly committed staff and happy, engaged students. We have all the ingredients for a great College.
Today, just like when the College commenced seventeen years ago, the mission of the College remains the same – to journey together and to find Jesus Christ in all that we do and say. As the College Principal, I am proud to lead St Andrew’s Catholic College in all that we do to foster the love and kindness of Jesus Christ.
