Outreach

Service to the Community

The heart of the College is service to others and the community. If the social justice and outreach work completed every year is any indication, then we are right on track to producing some very well rounded pro-social citizens for today and tomorrow.

A large part of the Faith Life of the College revolves around the principles of experiential learning (what it feels like to do good) and reciprocity (in giving we receive). We instil in our students that service to something more important than ourselves brings happiness.

Over the years there have been thousands of hours of this learning occurring within the spaces around the student's formal education; helping to shape our youth so that they are equipped with the skills to see a need and shape the world for the better.

This ongoing generosity continues to breathe life and love into the hearts of those individuals and organisations who were at the receiving end of the financial, emotional and physical support forwarded through or students.

The College community is a very large organisation, over 15% of Catholic Education in Far North Queensland. Therefore, it is right and just that we have such a significantly proportional positive impact on those in need around us.

Further outreach opportunities available to students include the Duke of Edinburgh Award, which includes community service; and service-learning in the Senior Years, which consists of 50 hours of service within a variety of local community groups.
