International Application Process

St Andrew’s Catholic College welcomes international students from all countries.  

International students are warmly embraced by our community and are encouraged to participate fully in school life.  We are committed to ensuring our international students settle in comfortably and are well supported and cared for during their stay.

The College is bound by the National Code of Practice for the Registration Authorities and Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students.  The National Code is a set of nationally consistent standards that governs the protection of overseas students and delivery of courses to those students by providers registered on CRICOS - the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students.  For further information about the National Code please see the Australian Government - Department of Immigration and Border Control website.

Only CRICOS courses can be offered to international students studying in Australia on student visas.

The Roman Catholic Trust Corporation for the Diocese of Cairns trading as St Andrew’s Catholic College, Redlynch Valley (CRICOS No: 02256D) is registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students to provide the following courses:

1.     041098A – Year Prep to Year 6
2.     052772C – Secondary Education Years 7 – 10
3.     059217G – Secondary Education Years 11-12

Agents

St Andrew’s Catholic College does not actively market for international students and currently depends on word-of-mouth recommendations from its past and current international students and families.  For further information please refer to our Agents Policy below.

Curriculum and Co-curricular

St Andrew’s Catholic College enrols international students from Prep to 12. Students are offered a wide and varied academic curriculum which allows them to reach their full potential. A range of co-curricular activities are offered to students as part of the holistic curriculum and students are encouraged to participate in these. Eg. Duke of Edinburgh awards, district sports, special masses and community service.

Senior students are prepared for the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) in Years 10 - 12, under the auspices of the Queensland Department of Education and Training and the Queensland Studies Authority respectively.

English Proficiency and Assessment

St Andrew’s Catholic College requires evidence of sufficient proficiency in English to successfully meet the curriculum demands or the enrolled course.  This may be evidence of previous study in English, or as results of an acceptable English language proficiency test.

Students who speak English as a second language (ESL) may require pre-testing and additional ESL support.  This can be provided at an additional cost.

St Andrew’s Catholic College prefers to interview and test our international students before issuing the necessary papers for them to apply for a Student Visa.

Fees and Additional Costs

Enrolment Application Fee

A non-refundable Application Fee must be paid when lodging an International Student Enrolment Application Form.

Tuition Fees and Levies are payable to the School for each year of the course, one semester in advance. Pro rata fees may be charged where the student’s agreed start date at the school falls outside the established school term dates.

Administrative Fee:  There is an annual Administrative Fee per year per student, which is payable in advance and must be paid with the Semester 1 Prepaid fees.

Additional Costs for International Students that are not included in the Tuition Fees and Levies Pre-payment amount are all listed in the Schedule of Additional Expenses for International Students 6.2. (Attached below).  Please note these additional expenses are both Compulsory or Voluntary costs, as stated in the current schedule.

All fees and costs are reviewed each year and are subject to increases annually.

Health Insurance

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) requires that International Students must obtain Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the proposed duration of their student visa. For further information see the DIAC website.

It is the responsibility of the students or family to arrange direct payment of the health cover for visa application purposes.

Uniform

Uniform costs will vary for each student depending on the year the student is enrolled; the student’s clothing size; and the co-curricular activities chosen by the student.  Uniforms can only be purchased through the School Shop.

St Andrew’s Catholic College, Redlynch Valley is an approved school under the Queensland Education (Overseas Students) Act, 1996 (as amended 1 Dec 2009) and the Education (Overseas Students) Regulation 1998 (as amended in 1 Jan 2010).  The college is bound by the provisions of the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS) (as amended in 2010) and the National Code of Practice, 2007.
