UQ UPDATE – VETERINARY SCIENCE

In 2018, The University of Queensland will be introducing an additional entry requirement for prospective students applying for the Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours). This change will impact current Year 12 students applying for study in 2019.

This new entry requirement, a Situational Judgement Test (SJT), is an on-line, video-scenario based test with 12 sections and open-ended questions.

The University recognises that attributes such as resilience, critical thinking and communication skills that are essential for veterinarians are not reflected in academic performance alone. The SJT will be used to assist in the selection of a student cohort best equipped for the rigours of the profession.

The test will be held between July and September 2018 with multiple tests dates. Students need to have access to a computer with reliable internet connection, a web-cam and hold photo identification and can be completed at home or at a library/community centre or another suitable location. The cost to complete the test is approximately $80 and students should allow 90 minutes to complete the test.

Further details about how and when to complete the SJT will be available soon on https://future-students.uq.edu.au/study/program/Bachelor-of-Veterinary-Science-Honours-2378.

Some frequently asked questions regarding the test platform (CASPer®) have been included below, however if you do have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the School Liaison team on 07 3346 9649 or email school.liaison@uq.edu.au.

AUSTRALIAN CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY (ACU)

UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE

The University of Melbourne would like to invite students to attend their Information Day for interstate students and their families at our Parkville campus on Monday 16 April from 8:30am.

Rather than focusing on course information readily available on our website, this event looks specifically at the Melbourne experience for interstate students.

The program includes information about the application process, scholarship opportunities, student services, accommodation options and financial assistance. They will also have the chance to ask current interstate students about their experiences and hear how they managed the transition to Melbourne and experience what it’s like to live in one of our Residential Colleges with lunch in a college dining hall as well as a college tour.

When the main program finishes at 3.30pm participants can also opt to stay on for extra tours of our Residential Colleges or the Victorian College of the Arts at the beautiful Southbank Campus

2017 VET Statistics

Both OP and Non-OP students completed VET certificates through the College or with outside providers. A total of 131 certificates were banked in the students learning accounts with 28 Certificate I courses being completed, 45 Certificate II, 36 Certificate III courses and 2 Certificate IV course completed. (A total of 111 completed certificates). The Certificate III/IV courses are a powerful training package as it provides a University pathway for students in Queensland and provides a selection rank of around 68/75.
