GRADUATING CLASS OF 2017

The Queensland Tertiary Application Centre (QTAC) had their major offer round on 16 January 2018.

77 students applied through QTAC (others may have only applied at interstate tertiary institutions).  Out of the 77 who applied, 75 of our students received an offer (97.4%).  What was even more impressive was that 75 (74%) of our students received their first preference!  Students, who have not yet received an offer, may still receive an offer in subsequent offer rounds.

The majority of preferences from our students were to James Cook University and CQ University, demonstrating that many of students are choosing to stay local. The University of Queensland came in a close third to CQ University.

Quite a few of our students were given an early offer in the November and December offer rounds which they were keen to accept and meant that they could start planning early for their tertiary studies and any accommodation and relocation required. To date, we are proud to announce that four of our students have been awarded significant scholarships from Bond University, Ronald McDonald House, Far North Queensland Youth Assistance Fund and the QUT Vice-Chancellor Scholarship.

Interestingly, the field of education with the most preferences from 2017 St Andrew’s students was in the area of Health (Pharmacy, Veterinary Science, Naturopathy, Speech Pathology) with Management and Commerce (Hospitality Management, Banking and Finance) and Engineering (Chemical, Automotive, Civil, Aerospace, Biomedical, Surveying) also showing strong numbers.

HELPFUL WEBSITES
